Edgard Varèse said: The raw material of music is sound. and the first efforts of this site will go toward the exploration of sound in respect to New Music. It won’t be possible to present an all encompassing compendium on sound all at once, but we will try to fill in the gaps as opportunities arise (guest writers?).

Research would include acoustics (a part of physics) or the basic scientific rules of sound including psycho-acoustics (sound perception), discussions on musical tones and noises and hopefully massive user commented posts on sound generation and manipulation in both acoustic (embodied?) and electronic (disembodied?) environments.
