About

This site is about New Music, New Music as in avant-garde, experimental and electronic music. New Music as it got kick-started by the Italian Futurists some 100 years ago. Although most Futurists weren’t musicians or composers their legacy in the form of manifestos has been taken up with greater effort and passion by each passing generation since the later half of the 1940’s, no matter whether these new proponents were actually aware of this fact or not. *

This site is a celebration of the incredible amount of playful, creative intelligence and imagination at work in the field of New Music, from the creation of new instruments to new ways of playing traditional ones to the application of new technical developments to all aspects of music creation and even up to new ways of listening.

At the moment, as is obvious by the limited content currently available, this site is still in development but the aim is to get as much user participation going as possible within the context of the site. Future posts will ask for contributions in the form of comments that may include videos and/or sound material and a way for others to subsequently comment on and rate these contributions.

* Going by John Cage’s statement that “All we do is music” and that most of us are now operating noise-making machines on a daily basis, we’ve all become Futurists. I even think that my neighbor’s yappy dogs are in fact just Futurists holding impromptu concerts.
